Friends and Family
A lot of other people live in river’s Crossing besides the main characters, here are a few of them
Abigail Masterman
Age: 19 (April 5)
Height/Weight: 5’4″ 120 lbs
Hair/Eye Color: Blonde/Blue
Race: Elf (Caucasian)
Occupation: Undergrad Student (Major: Undeclared)
First Appearance: Chapter one, page one
Abigail is Nicole’s younger sister and the youngest of the Masterman children. Unlike Nicole, Abigail is not very interested in magic or science and is really only going to school to meet boys and because her parents want her to. Her primary interests include: going to parties, dating, clothes and make up, and celebrity gossip. After college she intends to “marry a rich doctor or something”.
As a general rule, Abigail and Nicole get along pretty well, despite the fact that they don’t understand each other.
Doctor Anton Möller
Age: 29 (October 17)
Height/Weight: 6’4″ 175 lbs
Hair/Eye Color: Brown/Blue
Race: Caucasian
Occupation: Doctoral Resident at River’s Crossing Regional Hospital
First Appearance: Chapter one, page eighty
Anton is a talented, if inexperienced doctor at the local hospital. Gabry and Liam seem to have roped him into treating any injuries sustained in their unusual line of work. As such he’s pretty well versed in illnesses and injuries that may be magical in nature or monstrous in origin. He wishes he was a pediatrician instead.
Bunnie and Kimmie Gibson
Age: 37 (November 7) and 7 (April 2)
Height/Weight: 5’6″ 180 lbs and 4’9″ 80 lbs
Hair/Eye Color: Blonde/Blue and Grey/Blue
Race: Caucasian
Occupation: Restaurant Owner and Second Grader
First Appearance: Chapter two, page one
Bunnie is the owner of the appropriately named Bunnie’s Bar and Grill where Cynthia and Jeremy Work. She decided to open it after her daughter Kimmie was born with features resembling that of a field mouse. There are few job opportunities for Beastmen, even in a city where they are relatively common, so Bunnie wanted to help in whatever small way she could. She is also somewhat of an activist for equal rights for beastmen. She views her employees as surrogate children of sorts.
Kimmie attends a local private school, she is very shy and wants to be a dancer when she grows up.
Jeremy Lawson
Age: 19 (July 24)
Height/Weight: 5’8″ 170 lbs
Hair/Eye Color: Blond/Teal
Race: Caucasian
Occupation: Undergraduate Student (Major in Creative Writing)/Busboy
First Appearance: Chapter two, page one
Jeremy is originally from somewhere in New England and is the son of a fairly prominent surgeon. He’s somewhat disappointed his parents by not wanting to be a doctor of some type as well. Like Cynthia he wants to be a writer and they sometimes critique each other’s work.
Jordi Bertrand
Age: 26 (January 16)
Height/Weight: 5’9″ 150 lbs
Hair/Eye Color:Brown/Blue
Race: Caucasian (French)
Occupation: Liquor Store clerk
First Appearance: Chapter two, page eleven he also appears in the bonus content in the print version of chapter one.
Jordi works at the same ABC store as Nicole and is frequently terrorized by her pyromancy. He sometimes hangs out with her and the rest of her friends outside of work, and doesn’t seem to have many friends of his own. In his spare time he’s a reasonably good photographer and also plays guitar a little bit so long as no one is listening.
Oh and he drives a motorcycle. Jeremy thinks it it totally badass; Nicole thinks it is too badass for a guy like Jordi.
Khou’Ven op Rei Tohru
Age: 28 piruan/ approximately 43 years (Nai’ka do not have birthdays since there are no days in the underground)
Height/Weight: 6’3″ 145 lbs
Hair/Eye Color: Green/Grey
Race: Nai’ka (Homo Magia)
Occupation: Adjunct Professor at SSVT where he teaches several classes on Magical Theory and Nai’ka Studies
First Appearance: Chapter two, page twenty he also appears in the bonus content in the print version of chapter one.
Rei has lived on the surface for over a decade, longer than any other Nai’ka in River’s Crossing, and is probably the most powerful mage in the city, if not in the entire surface world. As such he’s appointed himself a guardian of sorts over the rest of his species, whether they want his help or not. Life is tough for Nai’ka in the United States, where they have little to no legal rights and many more superstitious people believe they are literally hellspawn. Their physical frailty and generally trusting nature makes them easy to exploit as well. Rei is determined to change that in any way he can.
Since he’s lived most of his adult life on the surface and has had a rough time of things, Rei has become rather cynical (a jerk, even) and is far more assimilated into human culture than most members of his species.
